This short course offers a clear and practical introduction to Islamic inheritance and will-writing, helping participants navigate one of the most important yet often misunderstood areas of Islamic law. Many families face stress and conflict over financial matters after death, making it essential to understand the rules that God has prescribed in relation to distribution of assets.
The course covers key principles, including the obligation to settle debts before distribution, the distinction between gifts and inheritance, and the rights of heirs regardless of gender—highlighting that women do not always inherit less than men. Learners will also explore the rules of bequests (wasiyyah), including the allowance to allocate up to one-third of wealth to non-heirs, as taught in the Sunnah
Practical matters such as legal procedures after death, avoiding injustice, and the importance of wills—especially for new Muslims—are also addressed. By the end, participants will be equipped to plan confidently and Islamically, ensuring their wishes are fulfilled and their families protected.
